Frequently Asked Questions

What is this place?

Cult of Distraction is my blog dedicated to digesting and giving thoughts on the many distractions that current-day media blasts us with on a daily basis.

Like, what kind of distractions?

Film, TV, video games, comic books, anime, literature and all the other sources of entertainment in-between. My tastes are pretty eclectic and I enjoy rambling on about anything from the mainstream, to the niche and the long-forgotten.

Okay, but who are you?

Just some bloke. My name is Nick Fisher and I'm a UK ex-pat now dwelling in the South Bay of Los Angeles, California, USA. I'm a web developer by trade, and a general grump by leisure. I do a lot of nerdy things and like to write about a lot of nerdy things.

Have you thought about updating your homepage? That movie in your 'Featured' article is over a month old.

Juggling the writing of articles with the writing of code for a livelihood can be a tricky and sometimes exhausting balance. Best way I could put it is that I don't ever intend this to be a news-focused site. I simply can't keep up with everything at present. But I do update whenever I can - usually once a week. Sometimes twice if I'm on a roll!

Why do you write about old things?

Because it's my blog and I write about whatever I want. I don't focus solely on reviewing the contemporary. I feel that there are some great, interesting or just plain obscure items from the past that, timeless or otherwise, deserve attention as well. This is a place for distractions both old and new.

Why the fuck did you give my favourite thing a bad rating?

Because I didn't like it. Simple. That doesn't mean YOU can't though. If you have an issue with some of the ratings we give here, there's plenty of other places across the Internet giving the stuff you like some love.

YOUR SITE SUCKS, KILL YOURSELF.

If my opinions anger you that much, remember that this is just another insignificant blog out there in the ether. Don't get your panties in a bunch and go outside for a bit.

NO, I AM MAD. OR AT LEAST, I WISH TO SEND YOU A MESSAGE ABOUT ONE OF YOUR ARTICLES. WHAT IS YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS?

Check the 'Contact Us' link in the bottom-right corner for further information.

WHY DO YOU SPELL FAVOURITE WITH A 'U'?

I'm a Brit. I do English the proper way.
